What makes the Devon Tread 1 unique? The belt-driven timing mechanism and transparent case are designed to show it off. Other special features include an onboard microprocessor, "bullet-proof" polycarbonate construction, and a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery that can run for up to two weeks on a single charge.

Reflecting the hours, minutes, seconds and hundredths of a second of the current time are four belts driven by motors managed by a tiny microprocessor. Fiber-reinforced glass-nylon construction allows belts to be as thin as two thousandths of an inch, and a "proprietary optical recognition system" ensures accurate movement.

Whether this is all worth 150 Benjamins is definitely a matter of debate. However, Devon claims that no other watch better demonstrates its real-time moving configuration, with the special construction giving the impression of parts floating in mid-air.

Devon Works timepieces need to be experienced first to fully appreciate the technology and innovation behind these crazy watches.
