Following the launch of the iconic El Primero 5Hz movement in 1969, the high-frequency chronograph became a fundamental aspect of Zenith's identity. Two watches, one in black carbon fiber with 18k brushed rose gold trim and the other in brushed titanium, house a sophisticated El Primero 9020 complication. Like the other Defy Extreme cases, the case measures 45mm in diameter, marked by acute angles and a 12-sided ring below the bezel. The angular chronograph pushers are protected by a contrasting material that complements that of the dodecagonal ring.

The skeletonized dial with tinted transparent sapphire allows a view of the majority of the movement, including the two tourbillon mechanisms with star frames.
