For the third collaboration between Richard Mille and McLaren, the two have come together to conceive a timepiece that is exceptional in every way. The case of the RM 40-01 Automatic Tourbillon McLaren Speedtail was designed exactly according to the drawings, and this work alone took approximately 2,800 hours. The case stands out with a remarkable stretched profile, somewhat reminiscent of the racer of the same name. Like a drop of water, thinner and narrower at the bottom, it will slowly but surely get thicker and larger. As with all of the brand's latest creations, carbon TPT® and titanium alloy reign supreme.

A Richard Mille first, the CRMT4 movement drives the internal tourbillon, oversized date and function selector. For ease of wearing, the date is adjusted via a pusher at 8 o'clock. Another button at 4 o'clock, similar to the gearbox, is used to select W mode (wind mode), N mode (neutral mode) and H mode (hour/time setting). Both pushers are reminiscent of the air vents behind the front wheels of a car. Many other elements were inspired by McLaren's designs. The indentation of the bezel is reminiscent of the lateral opening of the hood. The orange stripe runs under the movement and traces its course on the strap, echoing the integrated vertical signal lights in the Speedtail's rear windshield.

Like the 106 supercars assembled by the British manufacturer, the timepiece was launched in exactly the same number.

This lightweight yet robust watch is powered by the in-house CRMA1 movement with a 50-hour power reserve. This automatic movement features a function selector at 4 o'clock. Like a car gearbox, it allows the wearer to choose between winding (W), neutral (N) and manual setting (H) without touching the crown. Two platinum buttons facilitate setting functions.
