Chopard adds flyback chronograph to its Alpine Eagle watch collection
Chopard has added six new references to the Alpine Eagle collection of round sports watches with an integrated bracelet. All watches feature COSC-certified in-house movements, with cases and bracelets made from Chopard's new high-tech steel alloys or ethical 18k gold. The launch includes the collection’s first flyback chronograph, a new oversized case and a new coloured dial.
The collection of nature-inspired watches was launched a year ago, almost to this day. It represents three generations of men in the Scheufele family, which has owned the Swiss luxury brand since 1963. The Alpine Eagle collection is a modern reinterpretation of the St. Moritz watch, the first created in the 1970s by a young Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, who is now the company's co-president, along with his sister Caroline Scheufele. The new timepiece is Chopard’s take on the casual steel sports watch, with an integrated steel bracelet for all-day wear. It is the most popular international trend among watch lovers and represents the overwhelming trend of casual luxury.

All watches in the collection are equipped with Chopard in-house movements and are certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Agency (COSC), the official Swiss chronometer testing body responsible for certifying the accuracy and precision of Swiss watches.
The Alpine Eagle's name and its appearance are intended to reflect Karl-Friedrich's passion for the Swiss part of the Alps and the power and majesty of the wild eagles that inhabit the region. The rock-like textured dial, dark-hued sunburst pattern and luminous indicators are inspired by an eagle's iris. The hands are designed to represent bird feathers. The metal with a slightly textured finish is designed to replicate the glacier. The screw-down crown is engraved with a compass rose, showing the main direction printed on a map or chart. In this case, it is a symbol of the eagle's ability to choose the right direction. In addition, the bezel of the watch is identifiable by being held in two pairs by eight indexing screws. The watch is water resistant to 100 meters.
Alpine Eagle XL Chronograph
This is the first flyback chronograph in the collection to feature an oversized 44mm case, and a new addition to the collection. It is available in three versions: the Lucent Steel A223 with an "Aletsch blue" or "pitch black" brass dial; and a combination of the Lucent Steel A223 and ethically sourced and produced 18k rose gold and jet black dial.

Karl-Friedrich says the jet black dial is a new colour in the collection, inspired by the deep black of the Alps at night. The Aletsch blue dial references the Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier in Switzerland.
"I think the chronograph is one of the more useful complications and one of the most difficult to develop," Karl-Friedrich said. "Compared to a tourbillon, the design is more challenging, and it's a very welcome complication for sporty men who want more than one function on their wrist."
The chronograph functions on the dial are a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock and a small seconds counter at 6 o’clock. The date window is between 4 and 5 o'clock. The tachymeter scale with red 100, 160 and 240 graduations is located on the inner bezel and is divided into four levels, each row at different intervals of 5, 10, 20 or 40 km/h. Chopard says this arrangement provides an easier way to read average speed measurements.
The watch is powered by the Chopard 03.05-C in-house COSC-certified self-winding movement with a power reserve of 60 hours. One of the features of the column-wheel chronograph movement is the one-way gear system, and the Chopard "Variner" (meaning "variable inertia") balance wheel with hairspring, stabilized by compensating for changes in its inertia throughout the process The lifespan of the movement rate watch.
Alpine Eagle Large
Two original Alpine Eagle references have been updated with bracelets made entirely from ethically sourced and produced 18k rose gold.
The first 41mm watch features a textured Aletsch blue dial, while the second has a "Bernina Grey" dial with a diamond-set bezel (a reference to the Bernina mountains between Switzerland and Italy).
The watch is powered by the COSC-certified Chopard 01.01-C self-winding movement with a 60-hour power reserve.
