For this unique piece, Jacob & Co. worked with Bugatti for nearly a year to develop what they call an "engine on the wrist." But paying homage to the mighty Chiron begins with the watch’s exterior aesthetics.

The sleek tonneau-shaped case is inspired by the smooth lines of the now-sold Chiron supercar. But, as the name suggests, the Bugatti Chiron Blue Sapphire Crystal case goes a step further, creating a sapphire crystal body.

Creating such a case is complex and expensive. Jacob & Co. uses computer-aided design and manufacturing processes as well as traditional hand polishing for ultimate transparency. Likewise, adding color to a sapphire crystal is a complex process. Sapphire crystal was originally powdered, and the blue hue was created by mixing 17 metallic elements in a process called "doping."
