Chopard Alpine Eagle Cadence 8HF Titanium
A limited edition Alpine Eagle powered by a high-frequency movement.
Luxury sports watches with integrated bracelets are all the rage. Chopard's interpretation of this genre Alpine Eagle is a modern and state-of-the-art reinterpretation of Saint-Moritz in the 1980s. This model, which came out two years ago, is now available in a limited edition of 250 pieces, powered by a high-tech 8Hz high-frequency automatic movement. This is the Chopard Alpine Eagle Cadence 8HF in titanium.
Although most mechanical watches usually tick between 2.5Hz and 4Hz, it is generally believed that high-frequency movements of 5Hz and above can improve the accuracy and stability of the movement (even though the accuracy and stability are naturally not only related to frequency). Chopard has been conducting research in this field for many years. As early as 2012, the brand released the first experimental watch ticking with an impressive 8Hz clock, equipped with the LUC 8HF equipped with the LUC 01.06-L movement.

At first glance, this 8Hz Alpine Eagle looks similar to the existing model. The diameter of the case is still 41 mm and the height is 9.75 mm. However, the use of titanium brings a slightly darker color and different aspects from the Lucent steel version. Moreover, on the wrist, its light and unique touch makes it extra comfortable.
The Eagle Iris textured dial is treated with gray electroplating, and the appearance of its unique luminous markings and hands is also familiar. But it comes with several obvious upgrades. With a little movement, it has only one Roman numeral at 12 o'clock (relative to 3-6-9-12). Below the logo, the observatory title begins with 8HZ, and the dynamic arrow-shaped logo added on all Chopard HF watches creates a counterpoint at 6 o'clock. The scale of the dial is more detailed. Last but not least, the "Vals Grey" color of the dial is inspired by the quartzite tile roof of the Swiss village of the same name.
The smooth movement of the second hand reveals one of the highlights of this limited edition: the extraordinary movement that is the core of the watch. Through the bottom cover of the exhibition, you can see that the internal self-winding movement 01.12-C is an 8Hz movement whose accuracy has passed the COSC Observatory certification. To achieve this excellent frequency, Chopard designed an adjuster equipped with a silicon pulse pin, pallet fork and escape wheel (more teeth, so less rotation per beat), which minimizes friction and eliminates the need Traditional watchmaking lubricants.
The balance wheel uses a traditional hairspring. Its size/inertia is reduced and it only oscillates with an amplitude of about 200 degrees. The efficiency of the regulator, especially due to the lightness of silicon and its tribological properties, enabled Chopard to develop this high-jump escapement while providing a comfortable 60-hour power reserve.
The watch is equipped with an integrated grade 5 titanium bracelet. The design and finish are consistent with the Alpine Eagle series, which means a three-bar conical structure and a polished central link. It is secured to the wrist with a hidden tri-fold clasp.
